Coz I am completely overwhelmed by the amount of information available for learning Malay!
I don't know how often I will update this site but I hope to have a record of what I learn and summarized of what I learned.
I’ve always been a slow learner, especially for new languages. It’s likely because of the huge number of new words to remember beside the statement structure, grammar etc..
Anyway, I first started with free Apps, later offline class. But chasing the daily streak doesn't help slow learner like me to learn. Furthermore, its getting very confusing as there is always Bahasa Indonesia vs Bahasa Malay, which was clarified by my offline Cikgu: Indonesian language is Malay. In 2009, a study on the largest Bahasa Indonesia dictionary (Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia) by Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia found that 96% of Indonesia vocabulary are Malay words.
Most of the materials are teaching formal Malay (what's taught in school), which seems quite different (in term of vocabulary) from what's use on the streets, so still can't quite understand conversations.
Nonetheless, here are some helpful links:
Ling
Duolingo
ILearnMalay Blog
Well, since there are already sooo many other sites to learn from... here I am just got to post ...
